Sate Sederhana Pak Budi in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, was founded by Senen Riyanto in 1985 and named after his son.

Senen's famed tongseng brought to him Indonesian presidents Soeharto, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as regular diners.

He still oversees the kitchen. On Friday (09/02), he was personally preparing the sauce for the presidents' favorite dish.

Tongseng is a goat meat stew with vegetables and sweet soy sauce, originally from Solo, Central Java.

And Java is felt in the restaurant's ambiance.

A serving of tongseng at Pak Budi's costs about Rp 25,000 ($2).
