Jakarta. Lake Toba in North Sumatra is set to hold the running event Toba Cross Run, or TCR, 2017 on Oct. 28, which will feature awe-inspiring views of popular tourism spots in the area.

The event's route will include districts near Lake Toba such as Humbang Hasundutan, Toba Samosir and North Tapanuli. The race's finish line will be near Sipinsur Hill on the south shore of Lake Toba, which is located 1,400 meters above sea level and offers jaw-dropping sunsets.

"[Sipinsur] is located in Pearung village, Paranginan district in Humbang Hasundutan. The total area is one hectare and provides camping grounds, playing grounds and a pine forest," Alfonso Napitupulu of the Horas Halak Hita Community said in a statement on Sunday (08/10).

Sipinsur Hill is also home to the Sipinsur Education Park, a popular tourist attraction around the lake.

The park is part of the Kaldera Toba Geopark, which is being proposed by the North Sumatra administration to become a member of Unesco's Global Geoparks Network (GGN).

The running event will be divided into 5K, 25K and 55K marathons with a total prize of Rp 75 million ($5,600).
